Who are we?

Music for the Growing Mind is an organization aiming at promoting and managing an innovative music education initiative in Hong Kong addressing a particularly fragile segment of the population: children in difficult social and economic conditions.

We believe that music education is a powerful instrument in the development of children. Inspired by ‘El Sistema’ created by Jose Antonio Abreu in 1975 in Venezuela, MGM creates and manages ‘Schools of Orchestra’, independent communities where children are taught for free to play music. The project goes beyond providing a standard music education and contributes to the process of intellectual and social development of the children.
